1st Draft Front Cover

This is the first draft of my music magazine based on the Indie genre. I have titled it 'Alternative' as on some music websites and programs such as Itunes indie music is categorised as Alterntive, showing that some artists are undefinable. I wanted to reflect this in my magazine, show to the audience that the music that is presented is unique just like them. Furthermore I want my magazine to stand out among other indie magazines, therefore 'Alternative' shows that the magazine offers something different. The photograph I have used is a low angle close up, this is a conventional shot among music magazines. This ensures that the target audience instantly identify it as a music magazine. In addition as the model is looking directly into the the camra it creates an effect that she is looking at the reader, developing a conexion between the two. However the shadows around her eyes created by the hood, show that there are mysteries yet to reveal, which encourages the reader to turn the page and read the interview to learn more. The Interview is described as 'Whitey takes us back to her roots' this represents indie music as focused on artists that have worked their way to where they are, rather than being manufactured by a label. It also shows that indie artists gain their inspiration from experiences they have had or the enviroments they grew up in. To develop this cover further, I plan to incorporate a free download give away as this was something that was recommend in the questionairre I carryed out. I may also add a couple of pictures on top of the 'Inside' Line to show posters that will be included in the issue.
